With 15% pure Vitamin C, Vichy’s LiftActiv Brightening Skin Corrector is the ultimate solution for tired and dull looking skin. The formula contains a blend of powerful active ingredients which include pure Vitamin C and E and Hyaluronic Acid, and is free of perfume, texturizing agents and silicone.

The Vichy LiftActiv Brightening Skin Corrector is ideal for 35-50-year-olds who are looking to boost the skin’s natural radiance. Did you know that your skin can be exhausted due to a heavy workload, change of seasons, pollution, important life events, sun stress, lack of sleep or nutritional imbalances. How, you ask? By provoking dryness, imperfections, causing dark spots, a dull complexion or uneven skin texture.

The most incredible thing about Vichy’s skin booster bottle is that its so powerful that you only need to use it 3-4 times a year and it’s for all skin types.

Why should you use it?
Broadly speaking, antioxidants help to fight skin damage linked to external factors in our environment, such as UV rays – linked to 80% of premature cutaneous ageing. They do this by halting a phenomenon known as free radical damage, which is triggered by these factors and has been shown to accelerate visible signs of ageing.Vichy LiftActiv Brightening Skin Corrector boosts the antioxidant capacity of your skin on application and protects your skin from oxidative stress, and therefore being a powerful partner in your anti-ageing routine. Put 4-5 drops of the product in the palm of your hand. Apply with fingertips to a cleansed and dried skin, mornings only. Wait for 3 minutes before you apply your regular moisturiser.
My Thoughts
I am obsessed with antioxidants. I religiously use Skinceuticals C E Ferulic because a plastic surgeon once told me that as long as I use that and sunscreen, my skin is completely protected against sun and oxidative stress – which are the main contributing ageing factors. Plus my skin has never looked better. The amazing thing about Vichy’s LiftActiv Brightening Skin Corrector is that you only need use it 3-4 times a year (although if I didn’t have C E Ferulic, and this was my only antioxidant, I’d use it more often) and the price point is easy at R385 for 10ml. That might sound like a lot for a little, but you only need 4 drops at each application. A heads up – drop 4 drops in the palm of one hand and don’t rub it in with the other hand and then on your face. Some how the second hand absorbs product and then there isn’t as much for your face. I love it!
Available at Dis-Chem, Clicks, Foschini and major pharmacies.

I don’t know about you, but my favourite drugstore brand has to be Vichy. If I didn’t have a beauty blog, I would probably just be using Vichy. Vichy haircare is now available in S.A. peeps!

Because my ombre has my ends looking and feeling a bit dry, when given the choice, I opted to try the Nourishing Reparative range. This range is specifically for men and women with dry, damaged and brittle hair, exposed to multiple aggressions such as brushing, washing, drying, and repeated chemical treatments, who want to nourish and rebuild their hair fibre.

The Nourishing Cream Shampoo is said to protect hair fibres from external factors such as pollution and UV rays, leaving it looking soft with a healthy shine and a silky touch. The Nourishing Cream Conditioner is said to be enriched with Keratino-complex and 3 natural plant oils that intensely nourish and protect the hair fibre as well as counteract keratin deficiency and repair hair fibres, nourishing and restoring strength.

My thoughts?

Sensorially, it’s a treat. The shampoo comes in a flip top bottle, is creamy and comforting and smells incredibly delicious. It has a creamy gel texture that develops into a foam, and lathers up nicely. It’s hypoallergenic, paraben-free and lower in silicones. The conditioner comes in a flip top tube and smells seriously edible. The consistency is a little on the thin side, and I wish that it was richer and denser. Because of this, I find that I always have to use the Nutri Reparative Masque. This mask is thick and concentrated, and leaves my hair feeling silky soft. If you have dry hair and you’re looking for a hydrating hair mask, this is your guy. A word to the wise: rinse, rinse and rinse some more. I thought I had rinsed sufficiently the other day only to find that after my blow dry, my mid-lengths to ends looked dirty. Luckily a bit if dry shampoo sorted me out, but to make sure it’s all out of your hair, rinse for longer than you think is necessary.

All in all I am really enjoyed using this range. Vichy also have ranges for greasy hair,  hair-loss, anti-dandruff and ultra-soothing.

The shampoos go for around R195, the conditioners R199 and the mask R295. In terms of value for money, the mask is super concentrated, so the 200ml tub will last you a long while. Available at selected Dis-Chem and Clicks, and wherever else Vichy is sold.

Hey lovelies, after countless discussions with my girlfriends and family, I know that women are searching for perfection – perfect skin, perfect hair, perfect bodies, not to mention perfect men and perfect jobs. And perfect is a good thing to reach for, just as long as we remember that we’ll never actually reach 100% perfection. Strive for better, not perfection.

When I received Vichy’s ProEVEN range, I was super keen to try it out. I have a few freckles and pigmentation spots that I’m not too thrilled about (perfect skin, remember?).

Vichy ProEVEN caters for women of all ages and ethnicities who suffer from stubborn dark spots and uneven skin tone. It promises to visibly reduce the look of dark spots, brighten skin tone and create a more even complexion, with continuous use.

ProEVEN Brightening Cleansing Foam

This cleanser claims to deeply cleanse and gently exfoliate dead skin cells to reduce the look of dark spots to reveal smoother, newer-looking skin and a brighter, more even and radiant skin tone by way of Ceramide Bright™ and Vitamin C. It’s suitable for sensitive skin, hypoallergenic, paraben-free and Hydroquinone-free.

First up, this cleanser is super concentrated so you need the tiniest amount to get a delicious foam going. Because foam cleansers usually dry me out, I prefer cleansing oils, but not with this one. It never leaves me feeling tight. It does leave me feeling squeaky clean, in the best way. The scent is also heavenly and I love the fact that it provides a gentle daily exfoliation. I look forward to using it every morning and evening.

Available for a RRSP of R230. Find out more about it here

ProEVEN Advanced Daily Dark Spot Corrector

The Daily Dark Spot Corrector promises to instantly brighten skin tone and visibly reduce the number, size and intensity of dark spots in 8 weeks. It does this by way of a gentle exfoliation and contains soothing and fortifying Vichy Thermal Spa Water. It has been tested on sensitive skin under dermatological control, suitable for all skin types and tested on multi ethnicities, non-comedogenic and paraben-free.

This product is like a thick white milk and smells incredible, like gentle flowers. The texture is silky smooth and makes my skin feel insanely smooth, supple and moisturised. There’s no need for any other moisturiser on top of this one.

Available from Clicks, DisChem and some Foschini stores for a RRSP of R409. If you’re interested in reading more about it, go here.

I’ve been using this spot correcting duo for 8 weeks now. For the first 4 weeks I used it every morning and evening, and saw a noticeable difference in my skin in terms of radiance and brightness, but didn’t notice any of my dark spots lightening. The next 4 weeks I amped it up by using my Skinceuticals Retinol and saw better results – some of my dark spots were a little lighter. If you’re serious about pigmentation, I would supplement this range with a good retinol.

All in all, I’m loving this range. It’s cost-effective and it smells great. Again, for maximum efficacy I would supplement with a good retinol.

Cleansing oils are having their time in the sun lately and with so many to choose from, Vichy has made this an easy decision for you. My review of this cleansing oil will be short and sweet and, as promised, here are the reasons you should be using this cleansing oil:

1. The micelles gently yet effectively remove all make-up, including waterproof make-up. Yes to removing waterproof makeup and yes to being gentle.

2. It’s a make-up remover and cleanser in one. Score!

3. The cleansing process is simple and quick. All you do is squirt 2-3 pumps into your hands and apply to your face. Work it in gently to loosen up make-up and other debris, add water and then massage and rinse off.

4. It works out a lot cheaper  – there’s no need to use cotton pads because you apply this straight to your skin and rinse it off with water.

5. It never strips your skin and makes it feel tight. Your skin is left feeling nice and comfortable.

All in all this micellar oil is fantastic and I love it! It’s so easy to use and is really effective at removing the wares of the day. I’ve evolved to using it as step 2 in my 2 step cleansing method. First I remove my makeup with Garnier’s Micellar Cleansing Water, and I let it dry. Next I use only one pump of it (as opposed to using 3-4 pumps if I used it on its own). I don’t use it if I’m not wearing makeup. The only thing I don’t love about this product is that it’s so high in liquid paraffin, but I’m able to overlook it for the sake of how great it is. If you’re looking for a new wonder product to remove makeup, go out and get this. You will love it!

A 125ml bottle goes for the RRSP of R290.

I love Vichy. Like love. When I hear that there is a new Vichy product on the market, I get excited and wait in anticipation until I get the chance to try it out. My love affair with Vichy started in high school (my mom would get me the face cream and some other products I can’t even remember), and ever since then I’ve always known that Vichy was good stuff: luxurious and affordable skincare that delivers. Fast forward to 2014 and my love affair was reignited with the launch of Vichy’s Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Light Cream. Now, 2015 sees the launch of more products in this fabulous line that I love (Aqualia Thermal) with the Awakening Eye Balm and Night Spa.

Aqualia Thermal Night Spa is a multipurpose product that can be used in one of two ways. The first is as a sleeping mask, as it  “infuses the skin with hydration overnight, when skin is most receptive to treatments. Skin is soft, soothed and supple by morning.” As a face mask. they suggest that you apply a thick layer to your face and neck and leave it on for 10-15 minutes so that the product has time to absorb into the skin. Once the time is up, remove any excess product with a cotton pad. The second way is to use it as a good ol’ facial moisturiser and is perfect if you have sensitive skin, need hydration, or if you suffer tightness or discomfort after you’ve finished washing your face.

TEXTURE: It is a beautiful, creamy, silky smooth enveloping cream-gel that has a gentle yet alluring pale blue colour. It is insanely smooth and feels literally like a whipped mixture of silk and heaven. It’s one of the most delicious things I’ve ever felt.

PERFORMANCE: Upon application, my face feels calmed, soothed, hydrated and loved. When I use retinol, my face peels slightly, and then breaks out in little pimples. Even thought it’s a bit fussy when it’s at that stage, I am still able to use Night Spa on my skin – so in addition to soothing, it doesn’t cause breakouts. I love using it and feel like it really hydrates my skin. (My secret is that I use Hydraluron as my serum, with Night Spa on top and I sleep with my humidifier on so that the hyaluronic acid can do its job and grab those water particles!). It says it’s suitable for all skin types, and I think it just might be because my skin can be quite iffy, but has loved this stuff.

OVER ALL THOUGHTS: It feels like a spa in a jar, and I really feel pampered when I use it. It hydrates my skin and it feels AMAAAZING.

Available for R420 (for a 75ml tub) at Dis-Chem, Clicks, Red Square, select pharmacies and retailers.

The Awakening Eye Balm is a eye balm which improves water circulation around the eye for a fresher look, all day long.

TEXTURE: It is soft and bluish, opaque and transparent, and ultra-light yet dense. When you start to apply, it suddenly “breaks” into water, melting under your fingertips as it transfers from a solid to a liquid state, to awaken eyes and rebalance water circulation.

PERFORMANCE: As soon as I apply it, my under eye skin is instantly smoothed and feels velvety.

Lets take a look at the ingredients…

  • It has a high concentration of glycerin (which I’m not so mad about), but which helps to retain water, maintaining the skin’s hydration levels
  • It contains 5% Vichy Thermal Spa Water with unique properties like soothing and calming
  • It has a powerful dynamic hydration complex composed of three sugars: Hyaluronic Acid, Aquabioryl and  λ-Carrageenans which fix the water in the skin and ensure more uniform hydration and
  • Caffeine with draining and decongestive properties, combating the formation of bags.

OVERALL THOUGHTS: I absolutely love this eye cream. I love the fact that it literally turns to water when you apply it,  I adore the fact that I can use it under my eye makeup (without rubbing off) and I really feel like it has a point of difference.

Available for R365 (15ml) at Dis-Chem, Clicks, Red Square, select pharmacies and retailers.
