Glow Theory | K Beauty Sheet Masks

Sheet masking is a fun way to care for and nourish your skin. With the vast array of sheet masks available, I chose a whole bunch from Glow Theory. Here are my thoughts…

Coconut Milk Sheet Mask (Moisturising)

If you’re expecting the sweet smell of coconut on your face, don’t. This mask smells of anything but coconut. It did a good  job of moisturising my face (I used it after my skin started peeling after using the Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial) as well as soothing my skin. The sheet mask itself is nicely saturated and once I had used it on my face, was able to use it on my neck and decolleté.
I used the rest of the serum in the packet for the next 2 nights and my skin was beautifully soft after each application and looked beautifully moisturised upon waking the next morning. I loved using this mask and the extra serum and it certainly lived up to its promise of moisturising my skin. Available for R35 from Glow Theory here.

ILLI Lotus Moisture Mask

This mask doesn’t smell particularly pretty or appealing, but I’m okay with that. I think because it’s exotic (there’s no english on the back of the mask’s packaging), I expect these sheet masks to enchant me. Anyway this Lotus mask says it will moisturise your face – and it did. Some sheet masks create pimples if I leave them on, but not this one. It moisturised my skin and left it glowing. It wasn’t as wet as the Coconut Milk Sheet Mask (above), but I used the serum for the next night, and it did a good job of moisturising my skin. There’s nothing else I can say about this mask, other than the fact that it did what it said it would. It didn’t blow my mind, and I won’t repurchase. Available for R40 from Glow Theory here

Tony Moly Pureness 100 Collagen Mask Sheet – Elasticity

This sheet mask smells nice, and it moisturised my skin. I applied it while watching 2 episodes of Big Mouth, went to sleep and woke up with glowing skin. Is it better than anything we have available in SA? I can’t say for certain butI can say that it’s fun to try different things. R40 from Glow Theory here.

Tony Moly Pureness 100 Snail Mask Sheet – Skin Irritation Care

I used this sheet mask one evening after I had exfoliated my skin, skin that wasn’t all that happy with me. I was a little apprehensive about putting snail gunk on my face – especially since the packaging has a giant, slimy snail plastered on the front – but the mask smelled pleasant and ended up soothing my skin. I was able to use the rest of the serum on my face for 2 nights afterwards. Will I buy it again? Probably not, as it didn’t make a huge overall difference to my skin. It was fun to try though. White Milk Sheet Mask (Hydrating)

This is my favourite sheet mask of the lot. It smells lovely, and feels soothing and comforting. I left it on for 30 minutes and I was left with smooth, shiny and oh so comfortable, hydrated skin. I was able to use the remaining serum for another 2 nights. A definite winner for the affordability – R35 from Glow Theory here.

Royal Jelly

Of all the sheet masks tested, this is my second favourite one.  It claims to nourish skin and reduce wrinkles. I was expecting it to smell heavenly, but it turns out that it’s fragrance free. I left it on for 30 minutes and I was left with perfectly hydrated and soft skin. There was enough serum in the packet to apply to my décolleté and for use another separate time. As for reducing wrinkles, I can’t say, but it was fun to use and hydrating on my skin.

Sheet masks are a fun way to amp up your skincare and address various concerns and I really enjoyed trying out these interesting K-beauty ones. Have you tried and loved any?
