The Buzz on Cleansing Balms | Ren Rosa Centifolia Review

Hi Gorg Gals,

With new products launching on an almost daily basis, it’s hard to keep up. Today’s question is: have you heard of the concept of a cleansing balm? If you haven’t, it goes something like this… A cleansing balm is an oil-based cleanser that removes dirt and impurities on the skin while also protecting the skin’s moisture balance. These balms are effective because of the natural oils in their formulas (no mineral oil here!), which latch onto dirt and grime and break down makeup particles, making it easy to lift all of the impurities off your face. In addition, the oils in the balm grab excess sebum on the skin (remember from science class, “like attracts like”), whisking away extra oil that can lead to clogged pores and breakouts.

So how do you use a cleansing balm? Here’s where you have to pay attention: You apply a light coat over your dry face (this is very important) with your fingers, and massage it in (you’ll see the wears of the day a.k.a. your makeup start to give way in a few seconds). Add a bit of water to emuslify and then ‘wash’ your face as you would normally. To finish, gently wipe away with a muslin cloth or face cloth soaked in warm water. (A lot of people love the good ol’ face cloth, but I think that the muslin cloth does a better job. It delivers just the right amount of exfoliation, which is gentle enough to use every day.) Some days I use the cleansing balm on its own, and other days (normally when I’ve been out for the night and my makeup is a bit heavier) it’s the first step in my double cleanse routine. My experience has been wonderful!

My thoughts

This Rosa Centifolia Cleansing Balm is gorgeous and cleanses my skin beautifully, removing all traces of makeup while leaving my skin feeling exceptionally smooth, plump and hydrated. My skin no longer feels stripped when I wash it and I’m an absolute convert! No other cleanser makes my skin feel happier or more comfortable, and I would thoroughly recommend trying one out if you haven’t before. Ren’s Rosa Centifolia Purity Cleansing Balm has a luxurious, comforting rose scent and feels lovely on the skin. The only thing that I don’t like is that towards the end of the tube, the balm became a bit gritty. Other than that, I highly recommend it!
