Hey lovelies, you know I have a thing for clean beauty. If a clean beauty product can do all the things that a ‘dirty’ one can, I’ll take the clean one. Who wouldn’t?
A while ago I wanted to get a gift for a friend who has dry skin, and I came across a facial oil by Skin Creamery. I instantly fell in love with the packaging – all sleek and simple and black and white – so I figured they must know what’s up.
I’m so happy I decided to get one for myself in the process because it’s just amazing. They claim that it “penetrates so deeply it nourishes your skin from within, bringing out a youthful glow as it smooths fine lines and hydrates with certified organic baobab, Jojoba and Kalahari melon seed oils. Essential fatty acids, nutrients and waxes create a healthy sebum balance in your skin mantle, locking in moisture, nourishing and protecting. What you put on your skin matters as much as what you ingest. Skin Creamery Facial Hydrating Oil is natural, chemical-free organic skincare that gives your skin what it needs without disrupting your body’s balance.”
On the day that I don’t use my beloved Skinceuticals, or on the day after I use retinol, I’ll use this facial oil, and it lights my skin up! It smells like a spa on my face, my skin feels and looks incredible and I know I’m doing right by my body. I’m in love and I don’t think I’ll ever stop using this facial oil. The bottle lasts for ages, as I use 6 drops at a time. You could also use it under a moisturiser when your skin is really dry. If that doesn’t work, try some Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 gel. It’s basically a hydrating cocktail containing hyaluronic acid that will see your skin right.
Skin Creamery’s Facial Oil is available online here for R289 for a 60ml bottle.
At the same time that I got the facial oil, I picked up a face and body cream called the Everyday All Over Cream by Skin Creamery as a lightweight, summer option. They describe it as “a luxurious head-to-toe moisturiser, formulated to leave your skin with a gorgeous natural glow. Skin Creamery body care goodies are made with real organic ingredients to nourish and protect your skin, without any of those harsh synthetic fragrances or greasy pore-blocking mineral oils.”
It’s also beautifully packaged in a glass bottle, and comes in a white box with images of seeds and leaves. Super cool. I’m a sucker for packaging.
It’s a nice cream, but I don’t think I’d repurchase. At R305 for 200ml, it’s a tad pricey, and it didn’t blow me away. I’m not a fan of the feint spearminty vanilla smell – even though it doesn’t last very long. Don’t get me wrong, this body lotion sinks in nicely, is never greasy, feels great on the skin and is overall a great option. I just don’t think I’d spend that kind of money again on body lotion. I tried it on my face a few times, and the results were okay. Available here.
