Review | Estée Lauder Pure Colour Envy Lipstick

When was the last time a lipstick formulation blew you away? I’m not talking about colour here, but about the texture and colour pay off. Because I am forever testing out lip products, I can tell you that it doesn’t happen all that often, but Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks have impressed the skinny jeans off me!

I’m talking about two gorgeous colours today – a creamy nude called Impulsive and a gorgeous pink in the form of Tumultuous Pink.

My thoughts…

The COLOUR:  Impulsive is a light-pink, creamy neutral colour. It forms part of the nudes offering. It doesn’t blank lips out, but imparts an almost rosy-nude colour to the lips. I like wearing it on days where I wear heavier eye makeup and for days where I feel softer. Tumultuous Pink is described as a bright pink fuchsia, and is just that! In the tube it looks like a muted reddish pink, and you wonder how is it going to come out any other colour, but once on the lips it delivers a punchy fuchsia flash! It is magnificent!

The TEXTURE:  A buttery soft almost balm like texture that effortlessly glides onto lips, evenly coating the lips in full opaque coverage. The sculpting element means that the formula plumps up the lips somewhat without the usual tingling sensation. Tumultuous Pink smells faintly like cream soda (which I LOVE!), and Impulsive like butterscotch.

PACKAGING:  The packaging of the Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks is nothing short of sheer indulgence – a sleek, glossy navy outer case with bright golden accents. Adding to the luxury is the magnetic cap with ensures the lipstick lid is always secure, as the lid will always snap into place. It’s so much fun to play with!

How it WEARS:  These new Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks are in a league of their own, and I love the creamy, opaque finish that just one swipe gives you. Wear time is about 5 hours, even after a cup of tea and some biscotti! Once it wears off, it leaves the lips with a stain, and even though the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks aren’t prone to bleeding, I experienced some bleeding after an hour or so (bearing in mind that I didn’t line them) with the colour Tumultuous Pink. The only thing I didn’t like about Tumultuous Pink specifically (perhaps the formula differs from colour to nude) is that my lips were quite dry after about 4 or 5 hours. I found that if I re-applied, this dryness went away.

OVER ALL:  I love the new lip offering from Estée Lauder. They are creamy, long-wearing and richly decadent (that’s how they make me feel anyway)! They do come at a luxury price tag, so find a signature colour that you love. Your lips will thank you for it!
