Max Factor Beauty Haul

Hi Lovelies,

Max Factor makes some pretty decent makeup products. My favourite is this amazing, understated blush. I was really excited when I received a whole bag of products, and here are my thoughts…

Creme Puff Pressed Powder

I really like this powder, and it reminds me a little bit of a MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in that it’s not cakey, and gives a pretty, matte finish without emphasising wrinkles. It has light reflecting particles that help to give this soft, subtle glow. I wear it over my BB cream to give it longer wear. It comes in a nice compact and I apply it with a big fluffy brush. It doesn’t clog my pores and doesn’t cause breakouts. I really like this as a skin finisher.

AGELESS ELIXIR MIRACLE FOUNDATION

This foundation is full-coverage and promises to be an age-defier, with the comfort of an anti-aging serum and foundation. In spite of the claim, I found it a tad dry, cakey, and kind of thick on my skin. When I mixed it with moisturizer, it came out dewy, light, and very natural looking, although it had far less staying power.

Available in 8 shades for around R250 exclusively at Clicks.

LASTING PERFORMANCE FOUNDATION

This foundation claims to be natural yet long wear. It applies and blends easily with my Beauty Blender. It gives a lovely medium coverage with a natural yet slightly matte finish and lasts all day with a bit of powder. It isn’t as comfortable and as skin-like as my favourite foundation, but all in all it’s a good offering from a great makeup brand.

COLOUR CORRECTOR STICK

This is a cute colour corrector concealer stick in the Colour Corrector range that evens out dark spots. I love the fact that it comes in crayon form as it applies easily and allows for precise application, and it twists up, so you never have to sharpen it. It’s not a CC cream, so don’t go thinking that it is, as it’s definitely a lot harder to blend than a CC cream. It doesn’t provide the best coverage, and it’s not my favourite product. I find it a bit difficult to use. Even though I have a light skin tone, I’m able to use the Dark colour, as it’s a peach colour that minimises redness.

Available for around R200 from Clicks.

COLOUR X-PERT EYELINER

This liner has a dip-in tip that can be a bit messy if you’re not mindful – the formula is quite wet. The biggest plus is that it’s truly water resistant and smudge proof. The colour is really intense and doesn’t transfer.

Available in Deep Black and Anthracite for R185 from Clicks.

EXCESS INTENSITY LONGWEAR EYELINER

I really like this liner! It’s smudge-proof, water-proof and it LASTS. It applies easily and can be smudged to create some smokiness, but it’s not super creamy that it goes everywhere! It’s a self-sharpening pencil which is really convenient. If you’re looking for a liner that stays, you’ve found it.

Available for around R115 from Clicks.

EXCESS VOLUME EXTREME IMPACT MASCARA

Max Factor’s newest mascara is a 2 step system that  promises to add volume & then an intense glossy carbon black finish. The base coat is a thickening formula containing waxes & volumising particles and is applied with the same fat brush as the ‘False lash Effect’ Mascara which was designed to build maximum volume. The top coat is a thinner formula “jet-black lacquer” that adds intensity without clumping or removing any of the base volume. It is supposed to thicken the lashes, seal the mascara & add a carbon black glossy or wet-look finish. This is applied with a different brush on the other end. Sometimes I use the base coat for a very natural daytime look and for some night time drama, I add the top coat. I really enjoy the fact that I can get two different looks from 1 product. It doesn’t ever give me panda eyes, and you have to remove it with an oil-based makeup remover.
*Update on 26 June 2017 – I love love love this mascara. End 1 (Extreme Volume) gives me beautifully separated, fan-like lashes that I can really amp up with end 2 (Dark Lacquer). It’s such a multitasking product, and it really delivers.
